Did you know that Acudetox isn’t just about healing—it’s rooted in revolution?

Back in the 1970s, the Young Lords (a Puerto Rican activist group) and the Black Panthers (a Black liberation movement) joined forces with doctors and healers in the South Bronx. Communities were being devastated by heroin addiction, and mainstream medicine wasn’t stepping in with solutions that actually worked for the people.

So what did they do? They took healing into their own hands. 

They broke into Lincoln Hospital, demanding better care for their community. Out of this radical act, the foundation for what we now call the NADA Protocol (five-point ear acupuncture for addiction recovery) was born.

This wasn’t just about needles in the ear—it was about empowerment, about reclaiming health and dignity in the face of systemic neglect.

Today, every time Acudetox is used—in treatment centers, community spaces, and recovery programs—it carries the DNA of that history: grassroots healing, people helping people, and radical self-determination.

So when we talk about ear acupuncture for recovery, we’re not just talking about wellness. We’re honoring a legacy of resilience, activism, and healing justice.

And this is where I come in. 

I’ve trained almost 100 providers in the NADA Protocol. My role is to help carry this legacy forward—training others not just in technique, but in the deeper purpose: healing people, healing communities, and continuing the movement that began with the Young Lords and Black Panthers.

Acudetox is more than wellness. It’s a revolution in care that started on the streets, and it lives on in every person we train, every treatment we share, and every community we uplift.
